Mr Wordgate replied that as the conversation which took place at his table on Saturday last was never made the subject of remark and does not feel at liberty to detail conversation which is private, and where he was himself present no host - he refused to make it public.
Explain Watkins answer to an enquiry made by Mr Chapman whether the Attorney General had stated in his hearing at Mr Woodgate's house that Judge Bulkeley was drunk at the last public dinner at the Government House - The (Capt. Watkins) told him the Attorney General had stated it and added that it was in order to prevent his further exposing himself that H.E. (the Governor) was induced to leave the table early after dinner, but Captain Watkins states he had given no publicity to what occurred.
